Chapter Three

We found a home in NYC, and everything started to make sense. Our life started to move at its own pace. Josh found a good job and I was happy with my freelance work. Gradually, we bought everything that we needed and made a perfect home for ourselves. It was in each other that we found a perfect home, a beautiful shelter to spend the rest of our lives.

In order to keep his cravings under control, Josh would go on a hunting expedition by the end of every month. He would drink animal blood to keep high on energy and not starve. We made a schedule to keep the supernatural in us alive. Every week I would go out to the woods with Josh to practice my hunting skills. It was tough, but with time I enhanced my skills and was able to play with my bow and arrows.

It was just like any other day, when Josh received a call from one of his oldest friend, Ted. Ted didn’t know that Josh was in NYC, and when he got to know about it, he insisted on meeting him. Ted was one of his closest friends, and they both met when Josh was enrolled in army. Josh was a part of the US army for a while and both Ted and Josh were enrolled together in the army by Carter.

Originally from the same clan, both Josh and Ted shared Carter as their maker and spent years together in the army. It was Carter’s idea to send both of them to serve for our country, which Josh and Ted agreed whole heartedly. After serving for a couple of years in the Middle East, they both returned back home and were assigned different missions. Ted was sent to Mississippi, while Josh was sent to kill Alice, a mission that changed the entire course of his life. Not only he disobeyed Carter by keeping Alice alive, but fell in love with her the moment he laid eyes on her.

Ted was passing by and was looking forward to meet Josh after such a long time. They both knew that they had so much to catch. Ted was not aware about Alice or everything that has happened with Josh in the recent time. Josh thought that Ted would be a great help in suggesting him about new the whereabouts of new clans in the city, so that Josh would again be a part of the group and would be more secure.

Ted was very keen to meet Alice, the girl who made Josh settle down, as Josh has always been a wanderer. Alice gladly agreed in meeting Ted, as it was the first time when Josh was opening up to Alice, a part of his past. Alice always wanted to talk about Josh’s past, particularly for what happened in the army and how did he come back. That was one story that Josh never truly explained to Alice, and she knew that Josh was hiding something with his army background.
